Well it was certainly tough ! By the end of the event we were both very very tired, but had done a load of rallying.
The day started off at a Tyre dealer to get a spare for Suze, who was competing in her Micra and had a tyre let go on the way down. This really set the scene for the day.
The first few tests went ok, but a front tyre with a leak made for some odd handling. However on the first long test (8+ miles) we got a puncture. This cost us over 4 minutes, which when you review result you can see cost us a fastest test time !
After this Chris suffered a little bit of Mal de Nav, but a change of airflow in the car solved this. We were starting to get in to swing of the event, when we had another puncture on the same long test, and cost us the same amount of time (you can see the damaged tyre, its knackered !!!) again we must have been fast until we lost the tyre as taking into account the lost time we would have been 3rd fastest !
By now we had used up our two spares, and driving at 90% isn't my strong point and it took a few tests to get into the mind set of saving the tyres. We were very lucky in that we were able to borrow a spare wheel/tyre from a retired competitor (Many thanks to Freddy Camp !) so we were covered if we got a third puncture.
By the end of the day route, we were 16th overall, which without the punctures would have been about 8th overall.
However our run of luck was set to continue, the night route proved to be just as tough, we suffered from delays on the night route with a blocked route, getting stuck on a whites.
These problems matched to getting lost a bit, meant by the end of the event we dropped to 19th overall and 6th in class.
When the results and more pics are online I will post them up
